You will see some changes when you enter our branches, temporarily furniture has either been removed or cordoned off. Toys and literacy stations and tables in our children’s sections have been removed. At our circulation desks we had made changes to support social distancing and procedures that both protects our staff and you. Please adhere to the best of your ability to follow them and to respect our staff’s requirements to remind you as they are doing what is required of them. Please see our Code of Conduct policy OP-14 via our website “Library Board Policies” page.
Before you enter the building, all persons entering or remaining in these premises must wear a mask that securely covers the nose, mouth, and chin as required by the Medical Officer of Health under the authority of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMCPA) Ontario Regulation 263/20. Please see our Safety, Security and Emergencies in the Library Policy OP-9 via our website “Library Board Policies” page.
Health Check – please do not enter our branches if you are feeling ill, have a temperature etc. been out of the country during the last 14 days. COVID-19 symptoms. https://covid-19.ontario.ca/
Hand Sanitizing stations are located before you enter into the main areas of each branch. You are required to sanitize your hands prior to entering any areas of the library.
Please be aware of signage placed around the library, signs are there to guide you and to remind you to social distance and checking out your materials.
Returning your materials – when returning your items please put them into our drop boxes before you enter your branch. Returned items are not allowed to be brought into the library by patrons. Our staff will do this in order to properly wipe them down and quarantine them for 24 hrs.
Lingering – unfortunately, (goes against what we do and want our patrons to do) we ask that your visit with us is short. We are allowing 5 patrons in at a time. Staff will advise you if you are patron number 6 and will ask you to wait outside until a patron leaves the branch. Please browse of course but then make your way to our circulation desk to check out. Any items that you have carried around with you and you decide you do not want please bring them with you to our circulation desk and place them in the bin provided so they can be quarantined. Thank you!
Public Washrooms will be open but we advise that they are for use of patrons only.
Our Learning Centers will be open and have sanitizing and social distancing protocols in place.
As you know this is a very trying time, we are so happy to be able to open and provide service to you and your family members. Please be mindful, kind, respectful and understanding.
Thank you for your cooperation and welcome back!
